The eight-week program was a collaborative effort between Mandala Space Ventures and the UK Space Agency, aimed at helping UK-based companies explore and expand into the US market. Around 9–10 startups from the UK participated in the accelerator.
The final week of the program was especially exciting for our Chief Innovation Officer, Tommaso Tonina, who had the opportunity to visit Aerospace Corporation HQ. He explored groundbreaking technologies in X-ray non-destructive inspections and telescopic systems designed for tracking objects in orbit, from CubeSats to natural space bodies.
Tommaso also visited NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where he toured the Mars Yard, simulating Martian terrain for autonomous rover exploration, and the Microdevices Lab, focusing on cutting-edge technologies like microelectronics and quantum computing. Reflecting on the experience, he described it as “special,” particularly as he was joined by Leon Alkalai, CEO of Mandala Space Ventures, whose contributions to the GRAIL mission to the Moon and INSIGHT mission to Mars have been pivotal in advancing space exploration.
Following this, Tommaso visited Vast and Rocket Lab. At Vast, he observed innovations in space infrastructure aimed at transforming human presence in orbit. At Rocket Lab, he explored their small satellite launch capabilities, setting new standards in cost-effective and flexible space missions.
The program concluded with a Demo Day at Mandala Ventures on October 25th, where Tommaso had the chance to pitch in front of leading investors. This event was a valuable opportunity for Frontier Space to showcase our innovations and explore potential partnerships and investments. We’re actively seeking investment to scale our mission and are excited about the future possibilities.
